This is the 'clip system' behavior management tool that I will be using in my classroom this year. The significance of the clip system is that it rewards positive behavior and also provides a consequence for negative behavior. Each student will have his/her own clip. There will be seven colors representing different types of behavior. Each and every student will start on green (ready to learn) everyday. Each student had the opportunity to move up or down throughout the day; the student is never stuck on one color. For example: if a student moves down for inappropriate behavior, the student does not have to stay on the 'negative behavior' color, he/she can move up for good behavior at any point in the day. The colors are very self-explanatory, due to the labels on the specific colors. The goal is to make it to 'outstanding choices' because once a student has made it to outstanding choices, he/she can pick a prize from the outstanding choices booklet. The prizes can vary. At the end of the day, each student will color his/her 'color chart' to take home and get signed. The parents will have a color chart explanation guide to go by so that is easier to understand what each color represents. This behavior system allows parent-teacher communication everyday.
